Freeke Kunst: A Legacy of Law and Art
Freeke Kunst was co-founder of our firm and enriched us deeply with her experience, knowledge, creativity, and laughter. Far beyond the borders of the Dutch Caribbean, she was widely respected for her expertise in maritime law. Freeke was a dedicated and trusted counsel to her clients, known for her sharp insight and generous spirit.
She held several positions on maritime committees, was a frequent speaker at international conferences, and served as a lecturer at the University of Curaçao. Her professional life was marked by commitment, curiosity, and a genuine desire to share knowledge. Yet Freeke’s world extended far beyond the law.

A Life Rich in Creativity and Connection
Freeke was an art collector, sculptor, and painter. She spent countless hours in studios and galleries—creating her own work while also encouraging and supporting the creative paths of others. She loved to travel with family and friends and approached life with an open heart and a deep appreciation for beauty, detail, and discovery.
Above all, Freeke was a true companion to those dear to her: a colleague, a friend, a wife, and the devoted mother. She lived fully, touching the hearts and lives of many along the way.
In Memoriam
On 12 February 2017, our friend and partner Freeke Kunst passed away. Her absence is still felt, but her spirit continues to inspire us.
Five years later, in February 2022, OX & WOLF founded the MeesterKunst Foundation (Stichting MeesterKunst) in her memory; an enduring tribute to her life and values.
MeesterKunst Foundation
Purpose
The MeesterKunst Foundation aims to support female artists and to promote the visibility of women in the art sector in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao.
Through this foundation, Freeke’s dual legacy lives on:
A Master of Law and a Master of the Arts.
Her life reminds us to keep exploring, to create space for others to grow, and to make each day count.
